Skin Structure – A New Serum from Filorga

Skin Structure – A New Serum from Filorga

Filorga, one of my all time favourite skincare brands, have finally launched a serum that will blow your wrinkles and sagging skin away! Filorga Skin Structure hits the shelves in February 2014, and I promise you, you will love it. I certainly do! I got to sample Filorga Skin Structure in November last year. I was eager to try it, since I had already read the hype about this product and in general, I am always impressed by their products. I’m not usually “sold” on lotions that claim to show an almost instant result, simply because, I often find that they don’t. In studies, after 8 days of using of Filorga Skin Structure, 88% of women between the ages of 35-60, said that they saw an instant lifting effect, while 60% said their skin was denser and more sculpted.

Stylish Coffee Table Books

Stylish Coffee Table Books

Books too pretty to shove in a shelf! Today’s post is all about inspiring ways to style your space with beautiful books. My fave way to style coffee table books, is to pile them on top of one another to create height, and then add a beautiful ornament, candle or small vase filled with flowers on top. They also look really chic in a bookshelf, coupled with matching ornaments or book ends. Magnificent Metals

Magnificent Metals

This month sees the launch of Stila’s new Magnificent Metals Eye Liner. It’s the blackest-black gel eyeliner, packed with Stila’s new cutting edge glistening glitter. The end result… multi dimensional colour that catches the light to make your eyes pop! I got to play with one of four colours that will be launched namely, Metallic Black Gold, which I absolutely adore! The texture of this gel liner is very soft, and reminds me a teensy bit of Chanel’s Illusion d’ombre eye shadow, but with a higher consistency of gel, so it’s quite bit thicker. I’ve used this product as an eyeliner, to create softer defined “wings” with an element of sparkle, but it’s a wonderful product that can be used as an eyeshadow as well – and one that will stick to your lid, like a dream! I do have oily lids, so I often have to pull a few tricks to make my eyeshadow last. When I used Stila Metallic Metals as an eyeshadow, it went on and stayed put without any effort! For that alone, I highly recommend this product! Swatched, this colour looks amazing. The first application is to show you how it would look as an eye shadow, and…

How to Clean Your Makeup Brushes

How to Clean Your Makeup Brushes

Makeup brushes are expensive buggers, and while you need to clean them to keep them bacteria free, cleaning them correctly will ensure that you get to enjoy them for years! I’ve had some of my brushes for a good few years, and I’ve always looked after them. So, today I thought I’d share my brush cleaning ritual with you guys. I hardly ever use makeup brush cleaner. Firstly, I think it’s a bit of a waste, and I much prefer to give my brushes a proper clean with shampoo and water! Plus, I find that makeup brush cleaners often leave my brushes feeling stiff, which doesn’t blend my makeup well at all. Having said that, I do use isopropyl alcohol to clean really dirty brushes (like when I’ve used hectic pigments or gel liners) or when I’m travelling or doing makeup for shows since the whole shampoo method takes way longer. Ideally you should wash your brushes daily, or at the very least once a week. I usually give mine a big ol wash once a week, but I do have quite a few brushes, so I generally use them once or twice before washing. Step 1: I clean my…

Look of the Week – Boho Braids

Look of the Week – Boho Braids

Boho braids are right up there among my favourite hairstyles! This week I wanted to try out a version of boho braids, but a little neater and tighter, so that the style would hold all day. Since I had the whole boho thing going on with the hair, I wanted to wear a girly, lacy dress that would compliment this look. My cream, Bershka dress was perfect! To keep the look current without making it look too “bridesmaidy”, I wore a chunky neckpiece with pearl accents, and although I didn’t shoot any pics of my shoes, I wore nude, leather sandals. The hair style My hair doesn’t usually hold braids too well (as it is superfine), but since discovering  TONI&GUY Sea Salt Texturizing spray, my braids stay put all day! After I washed my hair, I sectioned it in two layers – top and bottom. On the top layer I sprayed a little Toni & Guy Sea Salt Texturing Spray, and avoided spraying it on the bottom layer (tell you why just now). Then, I just rough dried my hair, combed it through and my lovely sister in law, helped me create this neat and tidy braid. On the bottom layer,…
