Fab Find Friday – Flash a Lash

This week I discovered something fabulous – something every girl simply must have in her beauty bag.  I’m talking about self adhesive/ stick-on lashes that look like the real deal.

Fake lashes are so much fun.  You can go from simple to va-va-voom just by adding a bit of sexy flutter to your lids.  As you guessed, I’m not blessed with Penolopes’ long, sultry lashes – and I’m pretty sure that neither is she, but that’s besides the point.  With adhesive lashes you can always fake the flutter for a fab night out.  It’s amazing what these little caterpillars do for your eye definition and they look gorgeous in photographs too.

My only suggestion, when buying these lashes – is make sure you get some latex eyelash glue.  Try the pharmacy or Clicks if you can’t find it.  The girl behind the MAC counter tried to convince me that it wasn’t necessary, because they had a sticky surface, but I was like – ja right darling, there’s no way I’m taking that chance! I need extra assurance, because the last thing I need is for me to blink and my eyelash to end up on my lip or something.

Fabulous Lashes from top, (1) Lash Dash 4, (2) Lash Dash 1, (3) Lash Dash 3, (4) Lash Dash 5, all available from MAC cosmetics counters.

Although I haven’t tried them myself, I believe that Modelco has also got a range of self adhesive lashes as well as individual stick-on ones too.  LASH OUT can be used to fill areas of the lash for a seductive wink at the boys.

Placing them on them along the outer corners of the eye gives a cats-eye effect, while going all over the lash line gives you high voltage glam.  LASHOUT comes with a natural latex adhesive that dries and clears. These lashes are also water resistant and weightless too.

If you go the stick on flash route, here are some application tips and directions from ModelCo:

  • Trim lashes as desired.
  • Squeeze a drop of glue onto a dry surface, with tweezers dip the gathered end of lash into glue.
  • Position lash at the base of your natural lashes & hold for 10 seconds until glue becomes tacky.
  • For best results start at the outer edge & work in.
  • Replace glue cap tightly after use.
  • To remove lashes pull gently.

The Modelco Lashes are available in two sizes (medium and large) and will be available at Edgars Red Squares stores from October 2008.
