Confessions of a Beauty Girl – Kiss Blush and Tell

Today we catch up with the gorgeous @toritatham, Victoria Tatham of the bubbly beauty blog, Kiss Blush and Tell

How did you get started in the beauty industry?
I studied beauty when leaving school and worked in the industry for a few years when I lived in London – from managing a five star spa to doing make-up at London Fashion Week – I loved every bit of it, however wanted to grow in the advertising industry, so returned home to study again.

I keep up my love and knowledge for beauty through my blog, where I meet great people and get to try exciting new products.

What’s the best thing about your job?
I absolutely love working at Ogilvy (Victoria’s day job is as an Account Executive at Ogilvy Cape Town). Being the biggest advertising agency in the world I am surrounded by incredibly creative and inspiring people and get the chance to work on really exciting brands – this means that I am constantly stimulated and challenged, which is really important to me.

Kiss Blush and Tell also keeps me really busy and this satisfies my super girly side. My blog keeps me inspired and really fulfils me (sounds lame but its true). Even though the things I chat about seem incredibly shallow and insignificant (kinda true), they are really important to me and I love nothing more than sharing them with my readers.

What’s the most common questions girls ask you when they find out what you do?
“What do you do with all your beauty products?”, “How do you guys do any work in such a cool environment?”, “What’s the best thing you have ever received from a beauty product house?”, “What’s your favourite brand?”, “What do you do at those events?”

What was the last thing you purchased?
Country Road bikini and Country Road trousers today – whoops. Last beauty thing I bought was my monthly waxing a pedi at Petticoat Parlour.

What are your top five beauty products right now?

  1. Model Co. Bronzing mousse,
  2. Wild Olive Body exfoliator – pure indulgence,
  3. Bobbi Brown’s shimmer brick,
  4. Moroccan oil,
  5. Gelish nails – loving Hot Rod Red on my nails now.

What are your all time fav products? Things you’ve loved since forever and can’t live without?

  • Batiste Dry Shampoo – I have used this forever and it is seriously one of the biggest life-savers, especially when you’re heading from work to a night out and look like grease ball!
  • Essie nail colours – I have used these forever and it has always been a brand that I simply cannot hold myself back when I see – their colour selection is amazing and so ‘on trend’,
  • Nutraderm from Galderma – this is the best body cream ever, it does the job amazingly as well as sinking into the skin and being completely scent-free, plus the jar lasts you forever!
  • Redken All Soft Shampoo and Conditioner – I have been using this for a year now and finally seem to have found a shampoo that ticks all the boxes – smells great, hydrates, feels silky and leaves my hair looking amazing,
  • Natura Bisse’s Diamond Eye Cream – I got given this at a launch in London, and at R1,600 a pop my expectations were high, but it really is amazing. I have had it for a while and it’s still going – although the end is fast-approaching and I most certainly will not be spending this amount again. Such a pity because I have loved using every drop and feel younger each time. Bring on the wrinkles ☹

Favourite websites you visit:
The blogs I read are more fashion, decor and creativity focussed, rather than
just beauty:

Favourite nail polish for summer?
Essie’s Nice is Nice and Essie’s Borrowed Blue

Favourite scent of the season?
Jo Malone Wild Bluebell and Bobbi Brown – Bobbi’s Party – love them both

What is your beauty secret or tip?
I am loving mixing my Moroccan oil with my body cream – it gives that extra bit of hydration and smells incredible. I have also been doing this on my feet, and slipping socks on before bedtime, all in preparation for that summer skin we are all after…. I am, however, still waiting.

My Youtube Channel: Kiss, Blush and Tell now has a YouTube channel (it took a lot of convincing) – but being a huge fan of beauty tutorials myself, I was excited to get onto this. I started in late August on the preparation, and am now on my third video – hopefully these will start becoming more regular.
