Fab Find Friday: Bling Ring

!!! This entry is older than two years. The information may be outdated. >>>

Whilst out and about searching for something fabulous to feature this week, I bumped into this amazing product that is not only gorgeous, but also a unique piece of African craftsmanship.

As you probably know our Mama-Africa’s create the most amazing crafts using beads.  From necklaces, to bracelets to ornaments and other art.  This type of craftsmanship is very unique to African culture, and while the traditional Zulu and Ndebele pattern many not be your “cup of tea”, this beautiful bling ring is a summer must have for any fashionista at heart.

Each ring is handcrafted by one of the women from Iziko Lo Lwazi – an organisation that helps to sustain and empower African women through employment and education.  The rings are available at Woolworths stores and make perfect gifts for friends and family this Christmas.  By giving this amazing gift to someone, you will not only be giving them something completely unique and hand made (could you get more couture?), but you will be doing your bit to empower the women of this non-profit organisation in Hout Bay as well.

The ring above retails at R150.00, and is worth every cent when you have a look at the amount of work and detail.  Each ring is made by one of the Iziko Lo Lwazi women and the creator of your ring has her name written on the bottom of each card.  Mine was created by a woman named Ntombifuthi.
