Fab Find Friday – Eyelash Extensions by Michelle (Jagged Edge Durban)

So this week I’m putting my mascara away. Not because I don’t love mascara, but because I’m sporting long, luscious lashes thanks to the fabulous Michelle from Jagged Edge in Durban North.

I had been dying to try eyelash extensions for the longest time and on Wednesday, Michelle invited me to get a set a done. Who could say no?

The Process
It’s not at all painful, and trust me when I say, I’m a sissy! I also can’t stand people poking around my eyes – then again who can? Anyway I was nervous about this part, so I’m glad to say that it wasn’t at all bad. The whole process is done while you’re lying down, which can get a bit uncomfy, but it’s worth it in the end – just like wearing heels!

While Michelle applied my semi permanent lashes, that are supposed to last up to 2 weeks, my lower eye area got a treat thanks to these fab Crystal Collagen Eyelid patches.

It takes about 90 minutes to apply a full set of lash extensions. Michelle does hers by gluing a lash extension onto every single lash. The falsies are thick and super black so you really don’t need to use mascara at all. Even better, you don’t have to worry about panda eyes at the end of the day, which is usually thanks to mascara meltdown and well, the pretty, long lashes speak for themselves.

It can get a bit boring lying there and no you can’t sit on Twitter or BBM, but thankfully Michelle and I had lots to chat about so it went by quicker, but even so, I felt like I needed a good massage after one and half hours of lying down in the mummy position!

Michelle did a great job on my lashes – they are seriously Kim Kim Kardashain. In the before pic above, I’m wearing no mascara and only a bit of subtle eye shadow. In the after photo, again, same eye shadow and no mascara. What a difference hey?!

While I do love them, I’m a bit of plain Jane so I might give the ends a little trim just so that they feel more natural to me. I love the cat eye effect, but think it looks “too much” on my already big eyes.

Cost
Prices for eyelash extensions differ from salon to salon. Michelle charges R400 for a full set of lashes, R130 for a 2-week fill and R160 for a 3-week fill. She works out of her salon, Jagged Edge (51 Umhlanga Rocks Drive) but she can also  travel to you, just add on R150 for areas within the Durban CBD. Michelle also offers double sessions – so you and your best friend can get your lashes done together while gossiping and enjoying some girlfriend time.

Michelle has been kind enough to offer the first ten StyleScoop readers who book a 10 percent discount on their lashes. Take advantage and give her a call now! Michelle 0837856044, then come back to this post and let me know if you’re loving your lashes…

Happy Friday!
