Soft Peachy Eyes Look With Urban Decay

Today’s post is totally different to what I normally do, but I’m so excited about this look and the fact that Urban Decay is coming to South Africa next month, I thought I’d venture out of my comfort zone a little! I got some new Urban Decay goodies yesterday and started playing with them the minute they arrived! I loved this look so much, I had to share it with you gals! It’s the perfect peachy glowy eye look that’s so easy and a winner for winter!

To create this super soft and glowy peach eye, I used three Urban Decay Mono Eye Shadows; Freelove, ABC Gum and Space Cowboy and the amazing Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Waterline Eye pencil in Rail.

I don’t have any Urban Decay mascaras or brow pencils, so to complete the eyes, I went with my faves from Chanel (Le Volume De Chanel Mascara) and my Bodyography Brow Trio.

My face makeup is super minimal with just a bit of foundation. I used Bobbi Brown foundation in No4 and concealed with my Kryolan Colour Wheel (no5), then just brightened up the centre of my face using a bit of Estee Lauder concealer in no2 light medium. On my lips, I’m wearing Urban Decay Obsessed lipstick. Isn’t it pretty?

To prep the eyes I used Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden, which is a matte, really quick drying eyeshadow primer. Since my lids are probably darker than the first shade I used, primer was an absolute must to even out and cancel out my lid colour, plus it makes it so much easier to blend my shadows and they stay put!

The first shade I started with is this beautiful matte peach called ABC GUM. It’s such a pretty, soft colour that works wonderfully as a blending shade! I applied it onto my entire lid, from the root of my lashes all the way my brow bone.

Next, I went in with this beautiful shimmer shade called FreeLove. I applied it all over my lid and I used it in the crease as well. Now I never ever use shimmer shades in my crease, but I took a different approach with this one – adding it all over the lid and gently blending it into the crease!

The shimmers are super fine and beautifully textured, I don’t look at my eyes and think SHIMMER! I just think they look super glowly! Urban Decay shimmer shadows remind me a lot of mineralized eye shadows – so if you’re trying to judge the shimmery-ness then hopefully that gives you a better idea.

Okay, back to my look! I applied a couple of layers of this, going in with the smallest amount of shadow on the tip of my blending brush, blending the daylights out of it and then going again and again and again until I was happy with the intensity.

I also took this colour under my bottom lash line, connecting the top and bottom colours.

Lastly, I applied a small amount of this insanely glittery – but still beautiful and not too spice girls glittery – moondust shadow called Space Cowboy!

I applied it using my finger, smoothing it out on the back of my hand first, and then applying a touch at the centre of my lid. I also applied a small amount to enhance my brow bone.

Then to finish it all off, I applied my new favourite eyeliner IN THE WORLD, the Urban Decay 24/7 Waterline Eye Pencil in Rail. It’s a brown shade, but it’s a very rich, dark brown that looks almost black on my waterline.

I say it’s my favourite, because of two reasons; it lasts really long and doesn’t smudge -seriously I’m still sporting the swatch on my hand from about 5 hours ago and I’ve washed my hands, twice!-  and best of all, it doesn’t make my eyes itch and water! I often have to skip out on lining my bottom waterline because my eyes go crazy and start running and ruining my makeup -and all my blending efforts- but none of that nonsense with this!

I applied the liner to my bottom and top waterlines and then also created the smallest line on top of my lid, using an angled brush over it. Then to make it more black, I went over the top liner with a touch of my Makeup Forever Gel (which is my absolute fave gel liner) and voila, eyes done!

I’m obsessed with the Urban Decay eyeshadows! They are such great quality and the colour payoff is amaze!  I’ve been using my Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette non stop since I got and it’s the same, beautiful quality as these Urban Decay mono shadows! I’m just glad I got to play with some more fun colours!

Speaking of fun, Urban Decay have some insanely bright pink and purple shades in their collection that I’m dying to try out! Let me know if you gals would be interested in seeing a more “rule breaking” eye look, because I’m totally game to have some fun.
