If you’re into celebrity fragrances, today I’ve got a treat for you! There’s a whole lot of celeb fragrances that have recently become available in SA including RIRI by Rihanna, SOFIA by Sofia Vergara as well as Adam Levine’s debut scents for him and her. Instead of doing a post for each one of these, I thought it would be nice to combine them all together to give you a nice overview of what’s new to look out for and I’ll share my favourite one…
SOFIA by Sofia Vergara
Described as a scent for the woman who wants to feel sexy, sensual, glamorous and sophisticated – just like the sultry Columbian actress.
The composition is based on a Juicy Oriental pyramid with Juicy Berries, Cassis Buds and Plum Nectar as the top notes. Colombian Rose, Violet & Colombian Luna Musica Orchid blend into the heart, while Earthy Woods, Toasted Praline, Vanilla and Sandalwood make up the base of this fragrance.
It’s pretty, soft and sensual. I could definitely pick up on the Toasted Praline and Vanilla Notes, and although it has a juicy note composition, it’s not overly sweet or candylike.
I almost expected it to smell a little more sultry and intense – kind of like Jennifer Lopez’ J’LO Glow Miami fragrance. I guess, I just pictured a more fierce fragrance from the fierce actress, but nonetheless, I quite like how soft and gentle it is. Powdery, ladylike and classy.
Price: R795 for 50ml Eau de Parfum or R595 for the 30ml Eau de Parfum.
RIRI by Rihanna
This new fragrance from Rihanna is classified as a Flirty Floral fragrance, inspired by her softer side. The fragrance embodies her vivacious spirit, capturing Rihanna’s fresh vibrant essence with a playful twist.
Unlike SOFIA, RIRI is much sweeter and you can definitely smell the bright and energetic passion fruit and orange notes of this scent.
It opens with top notes of Passion Fruit, Rum Absolute, Sparkling Cassis and Italian Mandarin. At the heart lies Japanese Honeysuckle, Orange Blossom, Exotic Jasmine and Pink Freesia. And the dry down notes are a blend of Madagascar Vanilla, Warm Skin Musk and Indonesian Sandalwood.
Personally, I’m indifferent to it, but it could be just that I prefer her scent ROGUE to this one.
Price: R745 for 50ml Eau de Parfum or R545 for the 30ml Eau de Parfum.
Adam Levine For Her & Adam Levine For Him
Let me say this first up for the singer’s debut fragrances – I love the packaging and for a fairly inexpensive scent (and the most cost effective of all the ones featured today) the whole “unwrapping” of both of these fragrances is exciting. The bottles have been designed to take the form of a microphone with a really cool meshed cap and a slick black stem showing through, to represent the wire of the microphone. Then each one comes with a elegant box, white for ladies, black for guys and packaged with a cardboard sleeve of the singer.
Adam Levine for Her is my favourite of the bunch. Described as an Oriental Floral it’s an intoxicating, captivating and sexy scent with spellbinding attraction.
The top notes include Saffron, Crisp Citrus, Marigold and Spice. The mid notes comprise of Indian Jasmine Petals, Australian Sandalwood and Rose Petals, while the base comprises of Benzoin, Tears and Creamy Vanilla.
It’s just a lovely scent that leaves a lingering ahhhhhh Jasmine trail which I absolutely love. It reminds me ever so slightly of Bobbi Brown’s Bobbi’s Party – another fragrance I fell in love with for the strong jasmine component.
Price: R695 for 50ml Eau de Parfum or R495 for the 30ml Eau de Parfum.
Adam Levine for Him is described a fragrance for men that shocks the senses and leaves and unforgettable trail. True to his style, it is all parts invigorating, sophisticated – with an edge and ultimately irresistible.
It opens with top notes of Violet Leaf, Mandarin, Grapefruit, Lemongrass and Sage. At the heart lies Fresh Cut Ginger, Guava Leaves and Passion Fruit, while the base comprises of Cedar Wood, Sandal Wood and Amber.
The opening Lemongrass note is strong and refreshing and lingers for a while before the gingery component comes out to play. It’s a nice every day scent for a young and edgy guy, but I prefer more intense, spicy, rich and seductive scents for guys, but each to their own!
Price: R695 for 50ml Eau de Toilette or R495 for the 30ml Eau de Toilette.
Have you smelt any of these? Which one is your fave?
