Matchy Matchy

Okay, let’s just get one thing out of the way real quick. I AM OBSESSED WITH SETS! And I am so excited to see that sets are really taking off, in a big way this season. This is great news for my obsession, but bad, very bad news for my budget, because I want them all.

I’m really into linen sets in plain colours because I like how I can pair a black linen shirt with black linen shorts, or black linen pants to create different seasonal looks. I like this way of dressing because I feel put together, and it’s really easy and feels comfortable and effortless. I found that black and white pieces are pretty easy to pair with other versions of black and white pieces in the same fabric, but once you start introducing other tones (beige is a particularly difficult one) and specific colours, it’s often hard to find the exact match to complete your set – even if you buy all the pieces from the same brand.

This season, sets are everywhere, so you don’t have to run around trying to find the matching parts to complete your set. It’s all been done for us. THE FASHION GODS HEARD US!

Let’s take a look at some of my favourite brands where you can get your set on…

Me&B

One of my favourite local brands, Me&B is absolutely killing it this season in the sets department. All of their sets are so gorgeous, but the one that stole my heart was their Motel Set which got me feeling all the good summer time vibes. It includes the Motel Print Shirt and the Motel Elasticated Wide Leg Pants. I love how striking and unique this set is and loved the fact that the motel illustration was custom created just for them by a local illustrator. Now, when I saw this set, I dashed off to grab it straight away, but when I tried it on, I found it didn’t really suit my body shape, and the colours were a little too bright and too “Barbie” for my tone. Nonetheless, it is a gorgeous piece and I still love it!

As much as I wanted to be bold and daring with the Me&B sets in their fun and quirky prints, I really gravitated more towards the Pink Linen Shirt and Pink Linen Shorts set. This is 100% my vibe and they even have the Pink Linen Pants to add for more styling options – although I didn’t love the fit of the pants (on me).

Hannah Laverly

I went crazy nuts with the Hannah Laverly brand last summer. Every time I bought something from them, I wanted more and more and more and more. Eventually after the third or fourth purchase I had to physically stop myself from looking at their new launches, because I always needed it and well, girl’s gotta eat ya know!

Now this season, I think I may have to restrain myself once again. Look how beautiful their Holiday Set is in the most glorious shade of cobalt blue. Build the set with the matchy matchy Holiday pants and Holiday Cami.

ZARA

I always find something on trend at ZARA and matchy matchy sets are big for Zara this season too. This Flowing Printed Shirt and matching Pyjama Style Trousers set is so effortless and so cool and really gives off those easy breasy summer vibes. Costal grannies will go ballistic for this set.

Poetry

Another brand I always check out when shopping is Poetry. I love the quality of their clothes and if I’m being honest, it is by far, my favourite store to try on clothes. I seriously hate fitting rooms, especially when the lights are so awks and so low that they toast your skin and make you sweat. Plus you’re crammed in a tiny room, bashing into furniture, fearing for your life while at the same time worried that you dont come tumbling though the flimsy fabric curtain and land yourself butt naked on the floor. You know what I’m talking about! But Poetry fitting rooms… who ever worked on that concept needs an award!

But anyway, let’ stick to the topic and talk about thier sets. I saw a couple that I liked and again I am drawn to the plain and solid shades, but then I saw the Halle Printed Button through Shirt and the Halle Wide Leg Printed Pant and now I have to go into the store and try it on. It looks like a friggin’ painting.
