So, as most of you know, Thursdays are “Beauty Scoop” days here at StyleScoop. They are the days where I get to tell you about my favourite beauty and makeup product/s for the week. This week’s Scoop is a little different. For the next few weeks I will be blogging a La Mer Diary. I have been lucky enough to be given this well established, trusted and very loved moisturiser to test out and report back on the condition of my skin over a period of time.
It could not have come at a better time, as my poor skin is looking rather dull these days, and although I never had pimples (eeek) during my teens, for some reason they have decided that now is a good time to make an appearance on my face. Also, with winter, my skin is feeling very dry and rather irritable, so I’m curious to see if this “Miracle broth” really is a miracle…
For those of you that don’t know La Mer has always been known as the “king of all moisturisers”, and I don’t think it has to do with its price tag. It’s a “miracle” because it was developed by someone who had no interest in developing a beauty treatment to reach the masses, but wanted to develop something to cure himself of his own chemical burns. When the developer, relies on the success of his product for his own (cosmetic) benefit, you know it’s got to be good.
“Years ago, aerospace physicist, Dr Max Huber (Mr La Mer) suffered severe chemical burns when a routine experiment exploded in his face. Neither science nor medicine could offer sufficient promise of help, so Huber decided to help himself (I like his attitude). Twelve years and some 6000 experiments later, he perfected the Creme that would help give skin a dramatically smoother appearance”. This cream is known as Creme de la Mer and is famous for being a nutrient rich cream that contains “Miracle Broth™.
When I told my mom about my excitement about using this product, her reaction was “isn’t your skin too young for a cream like that?”. Granted, I am 28 years old, and I would still consider my skin youthful, but my belief is that using good quality products pays off later. But my mom will be happy know that La Mer, has developed a Moisturizing Creme Gel that contains the same Miracle Broth™ as the famous Creme de la Mer. The Moisturizing Creme Gel is lighter and works better in warmer climates where Creme de la Mer may be too rich. It is also ideal for “younger skins”.
I have used the sample version of this product before, and although it only lasted a week, I was most impressed with the results, so I am very keen to see what benefits long-term-use has in store for my skin.
Watch this space and keep an eye on my blog for more report backs
