Blogging may be dead, but I’m not.

Hello, is anybody out there? If you are reading this as a long time, old school follower of StyleScoop then Hiiiiiiiiiii. You’re probably wondering what the heck Dimi, the last time you posted on here was what, a million years ago. What the hell happened?

Well, to be honest, I got tired of the whole blogging world. The constant pressure to make sure I was at every event, covering every lucrative brand and on everyone’s social media radar. But I really hated when blogging became more about obsessing about those dreaded social media followers than it did about the blog.

I miss those days when my blog allowed me to make meaningful relationships with really cool people who shared my interests. And I really loved that it gave me a chance to carve my own career and build a job that I really loved. Heck, I still remember painstakingly trying to explain what blogging was to my friends who couldn’t understand why I’d spend my weekends photographing makeup products to write about them on the internet. I miss those days.

It was awesome! Until the age of influencer took over and all bloggers were expected to become influencers. For some bloggers the transition to influencer was a big step up. For others, like me, I think it just killed our spirit. No, I don’t think I know. It definitely killed mine. I was so blinded by what brands wanted and so desperate to stay relevant to them even though we’d worked together for years, that I lost sight of my blog until I eventually thought screw this, I’m done.

Now, I am much older and much wiser (I hope) and I really do miss my blog. I miss telling ya’ll about the latest shopping finds that keep me up at night, and telling you about the latest places to eat and explore. I really miss my camera, which is caked with so much dust. I wonder if it still works.

My point is that I’ve decided, against the (Instagram) odds, to come out of hibernation and bring the blog back to life.

Ah ha! You heard right A revival.

But what about Instagram you ask? I get that a lot of you hang out on Instagram and you use it to catch up on the latest posts from your faves, but I’m just not dedicating any of my energy to social media anymore. All of my energy is going into my blog.

But how will you keep up with the scoop if it’s not on the gram? Fear not my fabulous friends. I will still post any new blog posts to the @StyleScoop Instagram stories with a link so you can go check it out if you want to.

I’ve also made the decision to disable comments. SHOCK HORROR. But ya know, my gut is telling me that the only way I can bring my blog back to life and focus on the content is to do it for the love of it and for the content, not for the number of likes, hearts and comments. You don’t need my approval and I don’t need yours. I’m just here to give you some good advice and if you love it, you love it. There’s just no pressure 🙂

See ya soon gals xo Dimi
