We’re getting closer and closer to warmer weather, and it’s nearly time to pack away your layers and re-stock your wardrobe with beautiful, trendy summer pieces! Show off a killer summer tan in a dress that makes you want to sing. We’re all about the bold, bright, tropical prints this season and as always, Woolies is fashionably on-trend with stylish dresses that will brighten up your summer wardrobe.

Some of the key trends for dresses this season include bold tropical prints, skater dresses, neon and prints … Take a look at some of our favourite outfits Woolies have just launched in store, as well as inspiration from some stylish fashion bloggers. And because we know how much you want to wear your new dresses right now, check out our tips on how to style our outfit for Spring into Summer and wear it right now!

Tropical Florals

It just wouldn’t be summer without floral prints! This season floral gets fabulous and infuses with tropical prints in bold, bright colours.

One of the most flattering styles of dresses to don this summer is the 50’s skater dress. It’s kind of like an update to the traditional, suits-everyone a-line style, but with a bit more vavavoom at the bottom and very flattering on top. The skater dress is an absolute season essential. It’s easy to wear and can be dressed up with gorgeous heels, metallic accessories and glowing makeup, or dressed down with flats and a messy bun hairstyle.

Get the look at Woolworths: Top of our list is this pretty blue skater dress (R180) with bold yellow and pink flowers. For something more tropical, you just can’t go wrong with this colourful dress (R250) with it’s cute stretchy top.

Spring into Summer Tip: If you’re looking for a way to wear your floral dress right now, from Spring into Summer, mix a bit of biker style into floral prints. Wear your floral dress with a leather jacket, black stockings and fabulous ankle booties. Once the weather heats up, lose the biker look and go flirty and girly!

Geometric Prints

Go bold or go home! While the traditional “tropical” print this season is all about exotic florals, bold, geometric patterns are making way for a sexy summer too! So, if you’re not “into” florals, then this is how you can stay on trend this summer!
Get the look at Woolworths: I absolutely love this Chevron dress (R399). It ticks all the trend boxes with its bold print, but the style of this dress – where it’s longer at the back and shorter in front (referred to as high-lo or mullet) is very “in” right now.

Geometric prints like the ones in this blue and orange number (R170) would make a great work outfit! And, if you want to tone down on prints, but still stay current with your style, then look out for trendy prints on clutch purses (R220), chunky heels (R399) and flat pumps (R140).

Neon!

I saw a lot of the neon trend while I was in Europe this July, and while I must admit, I was a bit skeptical about it when I read about it on my favourite international fashion mags and blogs, but once I saw it out and about on the streets, I was instantly hooked! I even stocked up on some fabulous neon pieces that I’m just dying to wear!
Having a look at what’s on offer at Woolies this summer, I’m really glad to see pops of neon all over the store, from the shoe department to the accessories to the bright summer dresses.

Get the look at Woolworths: Let’s start with this gorgeous canary yellow high-low dress (R140). Belt it for a night out, or wear it loose and flowy for a stroll on the beach. This colour is perfect with a summer tan and really looks amazing on darker skinned girls! Pair it with cute pair of metallic flats (R299) and this pop-of-neon clutch (R220).

Then this bright pink dress (R350)! Love the colour, frills and zip detail and those side pockets are great for looking casual! It’s the perfect mix of classic, girly style with an element of fun and edgy.

Spring into Summer Tip: Try wearing this yellow dress as a long tunic over a long sleeved top and your skinny jeans. Remember to pair it with sky high heels to give you height and finish off your look.

All of these items featured above are available right now at Woolworths, so make sure you get into a store near you and soon!
