I’m so excited about this new makeup collab with the stunning Ellie Goulding x MAC Cosmetics! It launched in South Africa yesterday (7/1/16) and it is an online exclusive, so if you want it, you know where to get it!
I got to play with two of the products and I’m obsessed! In fact, I think this is one of my favourite MAC celeb collabs, simply because the colours are so versatile and easy to wear and even though Ellie is a blonde bombshell with fair skin and I’m a brunette with an olive complexion, these colours work wonderfully on me too!
Let’s first swoon over the gorgeous packaging, featuring a sleek black palette with Ellie Goulding’s signature triangle in an elegant rose gold finish.
The entire collection is inspired by the light and dark dichotomy in Ellie’s artwork and as a performer. It’s a collection that emulates her two signature looks: effortless au naturel by day, and breathtaking bombshell by night.
From colour to complexion, this collection features two beautiful eye combo palettes, lashes, a fluidline liner, a brow pencil and mascara. For the face, blush duo’s and lustre drops and for the lips, a lip pencil, two lipsticks and two Plusglass glosses. There’s also 3 beautiful brushes to complete your Ellie Goulding look.
Let me show you the two goodies I got to play with…
My fave! The Halcyon Nights (R700) palette, which is just too gorgeous!
It’s the perfect all-in-one, double-decker palette to recreate Ellie’s smokin look, perfect for night, but equally as beautiful for the day (although the second palette called Halcyon Days is more Ellie’s el’ naturel day look selection with beautiful cream colour shadows).
The top level contains four beautiful warm-toned eye shadow shades; one being a frost texture, two matte and one satin texture.
The top left shade (Starry Eyed) offers a subtle frost shadow, perfect for adding a pop of shimmer to the centre of the eye or the brow bone.
The top right shade (You My Everything) is a matte peach that works wonderfully as a crease shade to compliment any eye colour.
The bottom left shade (Saddle) is a gorgeous muddy/ orange brown matte, while the bottom right shade (Hanging On) works as a wonderful chocolate brown shade to define your eyes or add smoking definition with a satin texture.
The palette slides out to reveal a beautiful MAC Cream Colour Base in a soft brownish gold (This Love) that will give your cheeks a pop of colour, or add a nice subtle highlight to the brow bone. I am obsessed with MAC cream colour bases. Shell is my all time fave, but since trying out This Love from the Ellie Goulding collection, I now have two faves!
The gloss I got to try is MAC Plushglass (R240) in the colour Goodness Gracious.
It’s a perfect nude shade with a creamy pinky peach tone that makes your lips look naturally gorgeous! It’s not sticky as I remember my older MAC LipGlasses, so definitely a bonus there!
