Beach days are drawing nearer, which means sun, bronzed bods and bikinis. But it also means that some of us will have to “come back down to earth” – literally, ditching our heels and clutches for flip flops and straw beach bags. But, just because you’re walking at a lower level, doesn’t give you an excuse to step down the level of your style.
Check out the new range of Ipanema flip flops by super model Gisele Bündchen, which have launched in South Africa and are available at Woolworths stores, in a wide variety of colours and styles.
I love the first pair (1), seeing as my husband is six foot and I stand around 5.3. I need a little something to lift me up a bit. Sadly, this pair was not available when I went to check it out, but I noticed that some of the other styles are available. I think I’ll wait for “my pair” to come out though.
They are great flops and and very comfortable too. I bought a pair of last years style , just before the new range launched – with grey rubber soles and glittery silver straps. What I really like about Gisele’s flops is that the straps curve upwards, instead of flat down, and the curve gives you a nice “arched” foot – which is always sexy, especially when you don’t have ballerina’s feet.
Furthermore these flops are not only stylish and trendy, but Gisele has created them with the intention of helping the environment. The shoes themselves may not be”green”, however, the company who manufactures them, Grendene (also the manufacturers of the Melissa shoe, which our Green Queen mentioned a while ago in her column), does claim to follow “green policies” and recycles 99 percent of it’s industrial waste.
In the campaign for her new range of Ipanema flip flops, Gisele is wearing nothing but a few branches and leaves covering her gorgeous body. But it’s tastefully done as only Gisele can do, in a sexy (not slutty way). The campaign is aimed at raising awareness on Atlantic deforestation as well as to support the organisation SOS Mata Atlantic– an organisation protecting what is left of the the Mata Atlantica or Atlantic forest in Brazil.
The organisation plans to plant over 100 different species and over 25,500 saplings in the near future. This to recover some 15 hectares of Atlantic Forest in Campinas and Bahia (Brazillian regions). The “Gisele Bündchen of the Future – Seeds” forest will be kept for five years with support from her range of flip flops, giving the plants a chance to grow. So, for each pair of her flops you buy, you will not only look styling, but also be supporting this project, that is clearly close to Gisele’s heart.
It’s not the first time this stunner has used her name to “save the world” or so to speak. In her first campaign, when she launched her branded Ipanema flip flops last year, Gisele was all about raising awareness about the conscious use of water, and appearing in a water dress for the ad campaign.
