This week I tried out Estee Lauder’s Maximum Cover Camouflage. Let me just say – Camouflage was the perfect name for this product! I’m quite lucky in that I don’t have any scars on my face. I do however have pigmentation that often feels like it’s magnified and I found this product to really do a good job of completely covering it up. Other foundations, like the Double Wear for example have successfully hidden my pigmentation, but the Maximum Cover Camouflage makes it completely disappear – or at least, one would think!
This foundation was specifically developed to hide flaws and has been tested with surgeons and dermatologists. It’s ideal for post surgery scarring that you feel you want to cover up and basically makes imperfections such as surgical and acne scars, birthmarks, sun spots and even varicose veins disappear.
I like to keep this product on hand as backup to use it when I really want to ensure my pigementation stays a secret, or for when a nasty blemish decides to ruin my day. I like to call it “Photoshop in a bottle”, because that’s exactly what it is; your real life retouching programme that you can use when you need it.
The texture is light and blend-able and leaves the skin with a natural, matte finish that softens out any imperfections. It can be used on it’s own, under or over your foundation and instead of a concealer.
The shade I’m using is Medium 05 and against my skin, here’s how it looks:
Although my camera doesn’t do the product justice (as it picks up every single mark on my hand), I wanted to show you how it reduces the appearance of a scar. I have quite noticeable scar on my hand, thanks to an ice-skating accident ages ago, that seems to catch every one’s attention. Although the scar doesn’t bother me (I quite like it in fact), I decided to test Maximum Cover Camouflage on it.
My hand before
After applying Maximum Cover Camouflage using my Estee Lauder Concealer brush.
I used a small amount and dabbed it over with the brush so that it didn’t look”caked” on. Then, I just blended it all in. When I looked down at my hand, I could hardly see the scar! Bear in mind this scar run over an uneven surface (as it’s right across the join), so on a flatter surface it would be even more concealed.
If you’re trying to cover up blemishes and havent’ tried out Maximum Cover Camouflage just yet, remember Estee Lauder offers a complimentary I-Match Foundation service at all it’s counters. This is a great, especially if you’re skeptical or worried about spending money on a product that you later regret, because you get a complimentary 10-day supply without spending a single cent and you can try it out for 10 days in your own space and see the results for yourself.
So for all of you skeptics out there who are going “yeah right” – do yourself a favour, try it and then let me know if you’re still unconvinced of its powers. You really have nothing to lose.
Kudos to Estee Lauder for thinking smart and developing a product that works and does just what it says!
