In case you live under a rock (in other words, you’re not following StyleScoop on Twitter) last night I was at the launch for MAC’s new holiday collection – A Tartan Tale. I took loads of pics so make sure you check them out on the gallery page.
But if you’re like me and enjoy knowing the full story and seeing whose who and what’s what, then keep reading.
Based on a story of pure plaid royalty, complete with a its own raven haired heroine – Myfanwy, A Tartan Tale is the inspiration for MAC’s new holiday collection. I was invited, together with a group of fabulous bloggers and beauty editors from around SA, as well as makeup artists, to enjoy an evening of plaid fairytales.
Of course we were there mainly to view and drool over the new MAC holiday collection – a dream for lips, eyes, face and nails – but we also got to enjoy some serious eye candy! The “stage crew” were hotties and the waiters, who made sure we had more than enough to drink, were all male and all gorgeous to boot! We also got to enjoy a little play that was fun and entertaining.
Boys, Boys, Boys!
The event was held at the Urban Tree in Sandton and despite the rain (I forgot how serious it rains in Joburg) everyone looked glam and fabulous. The girls that I was with; Kim, Alex, Evegenia (my partner in crime), Eloise, Candice-Lee, Deevya, Margaux, Chia and Lynette were loads of fun! We all got treated to having our makeup done by MAC pro’s before the event and we had such fun tweeting and taking pics. I’m sure there’s will be up soon!
Some of the beauty “Twits” – Kim Gray, Lynette Botha – Beauty Ed at ELLE magazine and Eloise Dryer.
Raine Tauber (Right) did my makeup for the night. She’s a resident MAC trainer (score!) and she is Ahhhmazing! She taught me lots of sneaky little tips on how to apply makeup. On my left is Michelle-Lee Collins, MAC’s Senior Artist – can you just imagine her makeup collection?
- With Brigid Shipalana from MAC (middle) and Fair Lady’s Beauty Editor Candice-Lee Kannemeyer (right) – Great Gals!

With the beauty girls from Glamour and Cosmo. On the left is Margaux Knuppe – Beauty Editor at Glamour and in the middle, the perfectly poised Deevya Vasson – Junior Beauty Editor at Cosmopolitan magazine, who is also a yoga instructor – and it shows!
Home for the night, the gorgeous Melrose Arch Hotel
It was great to finally meet all the bloggers and beauty gals in the flesh and at such a gorgeous event too.
