Style your wheels in support of World Cup South Africa

If you’re a StyleScoop regular, you’ll know that Thursday’s are usually “Man Handled” – a blog for girls (by a boy) on cars and stuff. We’ll this week he’s out of town for work, so I thought I’d try my hand at a little car writing. Don’t worry, although’ I don’t know much about cars, I do know a thing or two about dressing up and Mini’s

A Mini Cooper that is… With the World Cup only a few months away, retro car brand Mini has launched their World Cup 2010 campaign “6 colours to stand by”. The aim of their campaign is to build spirit among our local fans and they have started the support by getting cars to “fly” the South African flag.

One of the options (and my absolute favourite) when customising a Mini is the little Union Jack flags on the wing mirrors. Mini have taken this customization and adapted it for World Cup 2010, allowing drivers of just about any car (yes that means non Mini’s too!) to temporarily fly the Mzanzi flag in style!

These cute mirror flag caps are made of an elastic fabric that allows them to stretch over most the wing mirrors of most cars. Being a fabric, these funky flags are not permanent, they wont’ damage your car and they won’t interfere with your driving or visibility (accept being noticed of course by fellow patriots). Plus they are totally Mahala!

The flag caps are literally flying out fast, so if you want to get a pair, you’d better step on it and hurry over to a Mini dealership ASAP! They might already be out, but you can follow Mini SA on Twitter for more deets and find out if your closest branch has stock.

Now that I’ve helped to spread the word, I’m off to Mini and I hope that I can get my Polo mirrors branded Mzanzi Style! Follow me on Twitter and I’ll post a pic if I succeed…

PS – if you’ve already got your Mini mirror caps, DM us a pic on Twitter and we’ll post it up on StyleScoop at the end of March!

Wish me luck
