Mauritius SO Sofitel
Having been to Mauritius twice before, I thought I knew the island pretty well. Turns out, I got to experience a whole new kind of Mauritius in the South. On previous trips with my hubby, we stayed on the North Coast – and I pretty much know Grand Baie like the back of my hand. But this time the Mauritius I experienced was wilder, more idyllic, peaceful, serene and very different from the “buzzing touristy” island I’ve always know.
The South Coast of Mauritius is wild. It’s even referred to as the “Wild South” and you can tell. It’s much greener, where palm trees don’t dominate, but rather blend in with the lush vegetation. I even saw pine trees growing on the beach.

One of my favourite experiences on our Mauritius trip, and one that felt – truly Mauritian – was our little rum tasting tour and touring the Mauritius Wild South.
Since we did the Catamaran excursion ten years ago when we visited, we opted for an inland tour of Mauritius instead.

You guys know how much I love a good road trip and I’ve always said that road tripping is part of the holiday fun. Being in South Africa, we are really spoilt with an amazing road tripping landscape, where (most of the time), we have access to pretty decent roads to travel long and far!
Limpopo being one of my favourite road trip destinations!
View PostExperience Mauritius: A Visual Story
It’s been over a month since our magical holiday to the island of Mauritius, and judging by my Instagram feed, you can tell I’m still not over this paradise island. We had such an incredible stay and today, I wanted to share some of my Mauritius Travel tips and a visual story that may help you if you’re planning a visit to this East African gem.
Mauritius truly is a slice of paradise! From the beautiful beaches to the crystal clear waters with incredible sea life. Then there’s the five-star service (throughout the island), the flowing cocktails and of course, the fantastic weather.
But the one true thing that makes Mauritius so incredibly special, is it’s warm and friendly people who welcome you into their little corner of paradise – if only for a few days!
View PostGoing on Safari? Here’s 5 Things I’ve Learnt
Safari’s out in Africa are my favourite! I am a total bush baby and would quite easily trade a tropical paradise getaway for some bush time!
Having gone on a few epic Safari’s, I’ve learnt a lot that has helped me “get ready” for the next one! -October I’m counting down the days-.
Every time I travel, I always write a list of things to remember! Things like “bring extra mozzi spray – you will need it” and “don’t forget to pack a pair of boots next time” help when I’m packing or planning my next trip.
In this case, my next safari!
View PostA Holidaymakers Guide to “Do Durban”
I recently had a lovely little break in my old city, Durban. While I was there, soaking in the winter sunshine – (yep, like true Joburger’s we spent most of our time at the beach – in winter noggal) – it reminded me of how amazing Durbs is. Having lived there for 10 years as a local, I had forgotten what made Durban such a gem! Granted, when you live somewhere, going on holiday to the same place is a totally different experience. So, it was nice to Do Durban firstly as an adult (without parents on holiday, where you…
View Post24 Hours in Prague; What To Do, See, Eat and My Travel Tips
I love reading 24 hour city guides. I like to see what others would get up to if they had only 24 hours, because I think it highlights their best parts of a city.
Although my recent visit to Prague was for 3 days, bear in mind that this was a business trip, so a lot of the time our schedule was packed with interviews, launches and store visits. But, I did manage to experience a full day of exploring before jetting back to SA – as well a few sights sneaked in between the agenda.
If you’re planning a trip to the kingdom of Bohemia, then here’s a few of my travel tips…
