Right now I’m obsessed with Maxi Skirts – as if you didn’t already know! I’ve been hunting high and low to find one ever since I saw Serena (AKA Blake Lively) wearing her gorgeous red, Rag and Bone skirt in the latest season of Gossip Girl.
After months of searching, I eventually found one; a gorgeous red, flowy full maxi skirt from local brand Junkyard Angel. For those of you that aren’t familiar with the name, Junkyard Angel’s clothes are beyond amazing! Designed and manufactured locally in SA and sold at certain YDE outlets.
This piece is called The Blake Skirt – wonder if they named it after Ms Van Der Woodsen – and retails at R499. It is made from a beautiful flowing sheer fabric and red lining and has front pockets that make it even more amazing. The fit is great and really gives the same “flow” as Serena’s skirt. I wore mine the other day with a plain white fitted tank top and my my nude, super high wooden stack Luella heels, and got compliments all round.
I love clothes that are well made, fit well and make you feel like a million bucks! I think I might go back for the nude skirt because I love it so much! Just to give you a little taste, the peeps over at Junkyard Angel sent me this amazing photo from one of their shoots, featuring both the red and nude Blake skirt.
Aren’t the pics just amazing – almost as amazing as the skirt itself! Angelique has amazing style herself, and I wish I could lock her up in my closet room and let her dress me daily. That would be amazeballs!
This is my first piece of the Junkyard Angel collection and certainly not the last. I’m permanently hooked on their Facebook page, not only to see the amazing new styles in store, but also different ways to style an outfit and snaps from the street. Right now, besides the nude Blake skirt, I’ve got my eye on the Miley Shirt Dress (a beautiful leopard print dress), The Pixie Tee (a denim style tee with a huge black bow), The Leopard Print Gaga Dress (a body con dress with extreme shoulders) and the Amber Dress (a cute lbd with a full skirt with front pockets and a tie that wraps around the waist).
