Today, December 1st is World Aids Day, and M.A.C employees across the world will be rolling up their sleeves and leaving their brush belts behind, to volunteer at local organizations that receive funding from the MAF (MAC Aids Fund).
In South Africa, M.A.C employees will be supporting Rena Le Lona “We are With You” in Soweto. Started in 2005 by Michelle Friedman in response to overtaxed grannies and extended families, that had become responsible for orphan children affected and infected by HIV/AIDS. The vision was to create a centre that addresses children’s needs via creativity through the ARTS. Immersing the children in various forms of Arts, thereby providing an outlet for their emotions. Children learn to dance, sing, art and other forms of music and creativity.
Behind the scenes M.A.C staff and volunteers will be making breakfast for the kids, preparing the stage, making cushions, lining the stage, setting the scene, and arranging props, dress up and makeup! All in preparation for a final show put together by the children at RENA, who practice there skill every day through dance, drama, music and art…
“It will be a very proud moment for the M.A.C Aids Fund to donate R650 000 to the center with all the children, care givers, sponsors, celebrities friends of MAC and M.A.C staff there to watch.”
Once the performance is finished M.A.C will ensure that each child receives a personal gift and each family receives a Holiday Food Parcel to take home! The day will end with a fun filled party, inclusive of food, drinks, balloons, toys, sports equipment and a surprise performance by a hit local act that will perform 2 Hit songs!
