Now that the weather has gone from something to get excited about, to actually being full on freezing, all I can think about is loading on the layers. And the best way to stay warm, while still looking stylish is with a puffer jacket! This piece is a closet essential! Every man, woman and child should own at least one of these! So today, I’ve rounded up four of my favourite puffer jackets for women that I think are worth checking out!

This Tiger of Sweden Ivalou Coat (R8 999.00) is an absolute beauty! Soft, gorgeous and it will keep you warm for years to come! It features a resilient nylon exterior with a concealed zip and hidden magnetic button fastenings, a tie belt, pockets and the best part, it is lined with cozy down feathers that will keep you warm while keeping the cold out!

Do yourself a favour and just take a look at it in the flesh. Try it on and you will be in love! I particularly love the bold collar and diamond quilted pattern. Find it at Tiger of Sweden Sandton City, Tiger of Sweden V&A Waterfront, Tiger of Sweden Mall of Africa or Tiger of Sweden Hyde Park Corner.

This Superdry Happy Fuji Demi Jacket features a sleek, edgy design with the signature Superdy logo patch on the sleeve and logo tab on the cuff. It’s lined with a gorgeous pink floral print and has a fleece hood lined with faux fur. A great puffer coat that will look good no matter what you pair it with!

This Canada Goose Sable Quilted Zip Hoodie (on sale at Nordstrom for R7964) is another investment piece you will wear for a lifetime! Made in Canada, this slim fit, water-resistant and wind proof two-layer puffer jacket features goose with merino panels and a lather trim, and can comfortably endure temperatures of 5 to -5 degrees Celsius.

This Witchery Longline Puffer (R 1399.00 from Woolworths online) is another great puffer coat to check out. I love the faux fur hood which is detachable and that you can button it up right to your neck! I also love the banded tie at the cuff.

When looking for the perfect quilted puffer, here’s 3 things to keep in mind…

  1. Go for black! These puffer coats come in a variety of colours, but if you don’t already have one, black should be your first option. A black coat will always be in style and you can dress it up or down easily.
  2. Fit is EVERYTHING! Puffer coats could have the tendancy to make you look, well puffy, so always look for a slim fitting one that flatters. Small details at the waist, like belts, ties or concealed adjustment elastics will help you show off your silhouette.
  3. Pay attention to the sleeve! While these coats have been designed to keep the cold out, it’s possible for the cold to sneak in through the sleeves. Look for coats with elasticated or ribbed cuffs that fit snug around your wrist to ensure that the warmth stays in.

Which one is your fave?
